Digital Dental X-Rays

One of the ways dentists monitor your oral health is by using x-rays, which can reveal more information about your mouth than dentists can normally see. Some of the ways x-rays help us include:

  • Capturing an image of your teeth, so dentists can see how they relate to each other and the rest of your mouth and jaw
  • Finding abnormalities on your teeth and beneath your gums
  • Spotting decay on your teeth and beneath your gums
  • Detecting abnormalities and growths on your jawbone
  • Monitoring the position of your teeth and jawbone and watching for problems
  • Monitoring periodontal conditions

With digital x-rays, you can get your x-rays done faster and be exposed to less radiation than with traditional x-rays. Digital images reduce toxic waste from film. They can also be viewed immediately and allow technicians to zoom in or isolate part of the image.
